There is a 20-question multiple-choice test to assess the knowledge gained from this course. This course is completed through the IEMA assessment portal, a link to which will be made available upon registration of the assessment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Offer in-depth explanations of net zero and its related terms
- Explain the climate science that drives the net zero agenda
- Explain the context for main international policies responding to the climate crisis
- Explain how the UK approaches policymaking
- Explain how net zero targets offer risks but also great opportunities for future business from viability and reputation, to supply chain vulnerabilities and more
- Explain what the environmental and business benefits of low-carbon services and goods are
- Offer a detailed explanation of the requisite corporate governance, resourcing and accountability required for hitting net zero targets
- Explain the three scopes and how to establish a greenhouse gas inventory across them
- Explain the main principles of greenhouse gas accounting (including emissions factors, the use of activity data and more)
- Define ‘carbon neutral’ and how it applies to organisations, products and services
- Explain the methodologies behind science-based targets
- Explain near and long-term targets when creating a net zero strategy
- Design and Implement a decarbonisation plan with achievable targets and milestones, with the science-based target or net-zero objective in mind
- Give advice on how to reduce greenhouse emissions where Scope 3 is concerned (influenced but not directly controlled)
- Advise on how to communicate aims and targets externally without greenwashing or making false claims
